Lykke Li unveils new track "Highway To Your Heart"
Lykke Li has unveiled a second outing from her new audiovisual album EYEYE titled "Highway To Your Heart".
After announcing EYEYE with the first single "No Hotel" last month, Lykke Li has released a second cut from the record titled "Highway To Your Heart", which is teamed with a Theo Lindquist-directed video starring Lykke Li and Jeff Wilbusch.
EYEYE will follow Lykke Li's 2018 album so sad so sexy, and sees her reunite with longtime collaborator Björn Yttling for the first time since 2014's I Never Learn.
Lykke Li recorded the new album in her LA bedroom, and was mixed to tape by Shawn Everett. She explains, "I wanted the record to have the intimacy of listening to a voice memo on a macro dose of LSD."
EYEYE will be accompanied by a visual component that was directed by Theo Lindquist and shot on 16mm film, and will be split into one-minute videos intended to be viewed as "fragments of a larger story."
"We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media," Lykke Li says. "The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in sixty seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway."
