Lykke Li announces new audiovisual album EYEYE
After surprise-releasing "No Hotel" yesterday (23 March), Lykke Li has shared news of her upcoming audiovisual album EYEYE.
Yesterday (23 March) Lykke Li surprised fans with her first new track since 2020's "BRON", titled "No Hotel", and this afternoon (24 March) the Swedish singer/songwriter has followed it up with news of her EYEYE audiovisual album.
EYEYE will follow Lykke Li's 2018 album so sad so sexy, and sees her reunite with longtime collaborator Björn Yttling for the first time since 2014's I Never Learn.
Lykke Li recorded the new album in her LA bedroom, and was mixed to tape by Shawn Everett. She explains, "I wanted the record to have the intimacy of listening to a voice memo on a macro dose of LSD."
EYEYE will be accompanied by a visual component that was directed by Theo Lindquist and shot on 16mm film, and will be split into one-minute videos intended to be viewed as "fragments of a larger story."
"We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media," Lykke Li says. "The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in sixty seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway."
