Lucianblomkamp announces new three-part album and shares Rromarin collaboration "Nothing"
Australian producer/composer Lucianblomkamp has announced Sick Of What I Don't Understand, his first LP for Different Recordings.
As well as the album details the Cape Town-raised artist Lucianblomkamp (aka Lucian Blomkamp) has shared lead single "Nothing" featuring Rromarin. Fractured electronics and gothy textures swirl beneath Rromarin's scandi-sleek vocals - there are flecks of Tomas Barfod's scintillating sonic tonic to be gleaned from Blomkamp's concoction, but everything here is cranked up to dangerous levels, with the rhythms punchier, shadows darker, and scope grander.
"Songs like 'Nothing' are a rare occurrence for me as it's completely a product of collaboration" explains Blomkamp. "The track's meaning and tone has morphed over the writing process with Rromarin and I think this plays as one of the track’s biggest strengths. I feel it's also fitting that it’s the first track to be released in some time as there’s a really balanced dynamic between the sounds of my previous albums and what’s to come."
Sick Of What I Don't Understand is a three-part record due to be released over the course of the coming year, with the first part arriving in October. It's Blomkamp's third full-length in total, and sees him linking up with guests (including Trim) and moving further away from his classical roots.
As well as a solo artist in his own right, Blomkamp has worked with Seekae's John Hassell and produced for 6LACK.
