Lowly honour late genius in new single "Stephen"
Denmark's Lowly have shared new single "Stephen", an ode to the genius that passed away last year.
"Stephen" is the second single from the five-piece's upcoming Hifalutin record, after January's "Baglæns".
The new single was written on the day of Stephen Hawking's passing last year, and, according to the band, explores "contemplation and sadness of what happens to the world when so many genius cells turn off and leave us."
Hifalutin is Lowly's second full-length, after 2017's Heba. The upcoming album was recorded in a warehouse outside Aarhus through a mixture of group and individual recordings with producer Anders Boll.
Guitarist and vocalist Nanna Schannong says, "We dared to be even more curious, and started recording without knowing where we would end up. This curiosity released a huge amount of trust and confidence between us: we became much more tolerant of each other's diversity, and dared to give each other space. It also meant that some sketches suddenly became two pieces… or, that eight to nine different pieces suddenly found themselves in one song."
