London venue Alexandra Palace funded £24 million for revamp
London entertainment hub and music venue, Alexandra Palace is set to undergo a major revamp after receiving £23.9 million in new funding.
The financial support comes largely from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), which aims to ‘transform the eastern end of the Palace, making accessible to the public the most historically significant – yet currently derelict and inaccessible – parts of the building’.
Matt Cooke, Chair of the APPCT (Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust) said of the news: “This HLF funding will not only re-open derelict areas to full use and access, but will give a massive boost to the whole-site regeneration of one of London’s most exciting buildings”.
The venue in recent times has played host to the likes of Suede’s comeback show, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ I’ll Be Your Mirror ATP event and more.
