Listen to three new demos from Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos
On New Years Eve we made "Somewhere" by Eastern Shift - the alter-ego of Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos - our Song Of The Day.
Now, continuing the bizarre scattershot approach to releasing new music as Eastern Shift, Angelakos has uploaded three more demos.
The first, "Katie Croons", samples Kate Bush's 1989 track "This Woman's Work", and the third, "Higher Than A Damn Eagle (Happy New Year)", uses some of Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings". The other is seemingly a complete original, unless some hidden samples are sneaked into the mix.
The tracks are all rather brief, rarely extending beyond two minutes (though "Katie Croons" almost hits three), and seem to be demos. It's unclear what purpose - if any - they serve, and if they're hints at a future endeavour or relics from a long-dead side-project, or perhaps unused Passion Pit offcuts.
There seems to be no sign of Angelakos halting the sonic tide, however.
