Listen to the new Bastille x Haim track "Bite Down"
Another new track from Bastille's forthcoming Other People's Heartache Pt. III mixtape has been unveiled, following last week's GRADES collab. This one sees Bastille team up with Haim.
As you might expect, it's glazed with burnished-brass pop. Big thumping pep-ralley beats and warped cheerleader chants infect synth-rock charm; unlike the other tracks released so far, this feels more like it could genuinely be by both bands as opposed to a 'special guest' scenario.
Chatting with DIY about the release and the Haim track in particular, Dan Smith [Bastille's frontman] said: “When it comes to working with people. it’s about making room for others. There’s no egos involved. It’s never like, ‘Fuck you I want two verses’. When Haim came in, they all sang, Danielle played guitar because she’s wicked at it. Este did some bass stuff, we did some programming, I wrote it but it all actually happened in one evening. Three or four hours.”
The new mixtape will be released 8 December.
