Listen: Brighter Later - "Brace" [Premiere]
Melbourne-based Jay Kranz and her cast of collaborators spin off a dreamy, lilac-smog charmer in the form of "Brace", which you can stream below, exclusively on Best Fit.
The track is gorgeously hypnotic. Melodies drift in and out of focus, a soft palette of furry synths and guitars sparkling like Orion's Belt. It's introspective sounding, for sure, but never dour. It runs the gamut of self-reflection.
Mazzy Star, Cat Power and Sigur Rós are all names that've been dropped when describing Brighter Later's sound, but the truth isn't that simple. Combining dreamy atmospherics, silk-smooth vocals, post-rock textures and a pop sheen, the Australian outfit nod to their influences, but never linger long enough to be steeped in them.
