Lily Allen shares supportive message to Taylor Swift amid Scooter Braun row
Lily Allen has shared a message on Instagram supporting Taylor Swift in her row with Scooter Braun.
Last week Scooter Braun was revealed to have acquired Big Machine Records, the label that holds the masters of Taylor Swift's first six albums.
Swift shared her thoughts about Braun in a Tumblr post, writing, "I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years."
She added, "Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.
Justin Bieber came forward in support of Braun on Instagram, alongside Braun's wife, Yael Braun, and Sia. Then Sky Ferreira shared a message about exploitation in the music industry, and "ME!" collaborator Brendon Urie shared his support for Swift.
Now Lily Allen has given her opinion on the matter, writing in a recent Instagram post, "So, this week we had Taylor Swift expose a pretty brutal side of the music industry, some middle aged multi millionaire white dudes doing what they do best, controlling, belittling and humiliating the very people that they couldn’t do without. Now, our very own Kate Nash has done something spectacular here, I think consumers have little to no idea how hard it is to survive in the industry today, please please please if youre lost for things to do this weekend, please watch this. It’s a real eye opener. MUSICIANS WORLWIDE I BEG WE START A PROPER UNION THAT ACTUALLY WORKS, we need to change this system. POWER IS NEVER GIVEN, IT HAS TO BE TAKEN."
