Lil Yachty to make action heist movie based on the card game UNO
Lil Yachty has been confirmed to be developing a new action heist comedy film with Mattel Films that's based on the card game UNO.
After releasing Lil Boat 3.5, the deluxe edition of his Lil Boat 3 album in November last year, rapper Lil Yachty has entered 2021 with a new focus - an action heist film based on the card game UNO.
As Variety reports, the film is due to be set in the underground hip hop world of Atlanta, and while the cast hasn't been announced yet, Lil Yachty is reportedly being considered for the lead role.
The screenplay for the new film is written by Marcy Kelly, and Mattel Films will produce the movie with Quality Control's Kevin "Coach K" Lee, Pierre "P" Thomas and Brian Sher for Quality Films.
Lil Yachty says of the film, "I’m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel. I played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me."
Executive producer Robbie Brenner of Mattel Films adds, "At Mattel Films, we are looking to explore stories that bring our brands to life in unexpected ways. Uno is a game that transcends generations and cultures and we look forward to partnering with Lil Yachty, as well as with Coach, P, and Brian Sher, to transform the classic Uno game into a comedic action adventure."
