Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is now the most certified song in US music history
Lil Nas X's huge hit "Old Town Road" has broken another record by becoming the most certified song in US music history.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has awarded Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" with its 14th platinum certification, making it the most certified song in US music history.
"Old Town Road" was originally released in December 2018, and was re-released as a remiix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus in April 2019 after the original song was disqualified from the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart due to not fitting the genre.
Lil Nas X's song has now passed Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s "Despacito", which previously held the title after going platinum 13 times alongside John Legend's "All of Me".
The rapper celebrated the news via Twitter over the weekend with a video meme, writing, "OLD TOWN ROAD IS OFFICIALLY 14 TIMES PLATINUM! MOST PLATINUMS FOR ANY SONG EVER! LETS GOOO!"
