Lil Nas X reveals Frances Bean Cobain approved his Nirvana sample for "Panini"
Lil Nas X has shared that his sample of Nirvana's "In Bloom" on "Panini" was approved by Frances Bean Cobain.
Back in June, it was revealed that Lil Nas X's "Panini" featured a Nirvana credit.
Speaking to SiriusXM, Lil Nas X has shared the story behind his "In Bloom" sample on "Panini", "Actually, the craziest thing was I was making it, and it's possible, and I think this is what happens. Maybe like, I heard the melody as a child or something, and it's been subconsciously planted into my brain or something. So, when I was making the song...I put the snippet out, and everyone was like "Wow, he's sampling Nirvana." I was like "Where? I'm not sampling Nirvana. This beat doesn't have Nirvana in it.""
He adds, "Then I listened to "In Bloom" in full, and I was like "Oh, ok.""
Expanding on how he got the sample approved, Lil Nas X said, "I actually heard from Kurt's [Cobain] daughter. Yeah, She's the one who like, pretty much approved the song, and she told me how much she loved the video for "Old Town Road" and stuff."
