Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is officially the longest running Billboard No.1 single of all time
Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is officially the longest running Number One single in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 after holding the top spot for 17 weeks.
The original "Old Town Road" was released independently on 3 December 2018. Billy Ray Cyrus added a verse for the first remix on 5 April, which went straight to Number One.
Since then the Lil Nas X hit has had four official remixes, the latest featuring BTS' RM.
Mariah Carey, who Lil Nas X wants to get on board to do another remix, congratulated the rapper on beating her own record on the Billboard Hot 100 for her "One Sweet Day" song with Boyz II Men, which spent 16 weeks on the top spot.
Carey wrote on Twitter, "Sending love & congrats to Lil Nas X on breaking one of the longest running records in music history! We've been blessed to hold this record with a song that means a great deal to Boyz II Men and myself and has touched so many. Keep living your best life!"
