Lil Nas X, Grimes and Bella Poarch among artists partnering with TikTok for NFTs
TikTok has partnered with select creators and celebrities including Lil Nas X, Grimes and Bella Poarch to release a collection of NFTs called TikTok Top Moments.
As The Verge reports, the TikTok Top Moments non-fungible tokens will consist of six "culturally significant" TikTok videos in the form of one-of-one NFTs, and the platform is set to auction them with a selection of limited edition NFTs weekly in October.
Lil Nas X will be the first artist to launch the one-of-one and limited-edition TikTok NFTs on 6 October, made in collaboration with artist Rudy Willingham. According to Variety, the one-of-one NFT will feature Willingham's viral stop-motion video of Lil Nas X's Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" video.
Grimes, Bella Poarch, Curtis Roach and more are also lined up for the TikTok Top Moments NFTs.
TikTok confirmed that "Proceeds will largely go directly to the creators and NFT artists involved", and the rest will go to Immutable X - which will be handling the trading side of the NFT collection - and the Museum of the Moving Image, which is hosting a TikTok exhibit until 5 November displaying the six main pieces. TikTok will not be taking any proceeds.
