LFO's Mark Bell has died, Warp confirm
The revered producer Mark Bell has died aged 43 Warp, his label, confirm.
In a statement, Warp said:
"It's with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Mark Bell of LFO who died last week from complications after an operation. Mark's family & friends request privacy at this difficult time."
Bell was a pioneering force in the '80s UK dance, house and techno scenes with Gez Varley as LFO, and despite the duo splitting sometime later, Bell continued to work under the label. He was also an ardent producer, working with acts such as Depeche Mode (2001's Exciter) and Björk. With the latter, he struck up an important relationship that stretched over seven records, including Homogenic, Biophilia and Volta.
Bell's last LP as LFO came in the form of 2003's Sheath.
