Legendary music photographer David Redfern has died, aged 78
Acclaimed music photographer David Redfern has passed away. He was 78.
Redfern captured countless musicians during his half-century career, including Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin and Frank Sinatra - for whom he was official photographer - and has provided the world with some of the most iconic musical photography, from locations like the New Orleans Jazz Festival, to the original '60s Isle Of Wight Festival, and jazz greats across the globe. He has also released collections and books, including The Unclosed Eye, a lauded collection of works from his life and personal photos. Read a brief biography here.

He had been suffering from cancer for two years, but was still working during that time. He is survived by his wife, three children and five grandchildren.
