This year sees the 100th anniversary of Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club, with the venue marking its centenary with a series of 21 special shows.

The gig series, running from later this week right through to mid-December, will play host bands and promoters who have worked most loyally with the venue over the years. These include outings by the reforming ¡Forward, Russia!, Kurt Vile, The Fall, Albert Hammond Jr, Shellac, The Wedding Present, Loop, plus an all-dayer on 7 December featuring Eagulls, Sky Larkin and others.

“The Brudenell isn’t like any other club,” said current proprietor Nathan Clark. ”It isn’t affiliated to any external bodies. We’ve now got a better spec than anywhere that’s putting on similar gigs in the area, just because of the natural organic reinvestment, and new dressing rooms and toilets and showers and stuff like that. You can physically buy facilities, but you can’t buy the model of reinvestment and I don’t think you can replicate it either.”
