Don’t be put off by either of the names. Laurel Collective aren’t an over-earnest folk group. And ‘Sunshine Buddy’ isn’t as irritatingly twee as its title would suggest.
Instead, it’s a gloriously discordant piece of decidedly British pop that brings to mind early Mystery Jets or The Coral when they were good.
‘Sunshine Buddy’ is out 11 April on Tape Club.
