Laura Veirs shares new single "Lightning Rod"
Laura Veirs has lifted the lid on "Lightning Rod", the latest preview of upcoming concept record The Lookout.
Veirs' upcoming album, the follow up to 2013's Warp and Weft (and her collaborative collection with k.d. lang and Neko Case in 2016), is described as a concept record about "the fragility of precious things".
"The Lookout is about the need to pay attention to the fleeting beauty of life and to not be complacent; it’s about the importance of looking out for each other," says Veirs. "I'm addressing what’s happening around me with the chaos of post-election America, the racial divides in our country, and a personal reckoning with the realities of midlife: I have friends who’ve died; I struggle with how to balance life as an artist with parenting young children."
We've already had singles "Everybody Needs You" and Sufan Stevens collab "Watch Fire". As well as Stevens, Karl Blau, Steve Moore, Eyvind Kang, Tucker Martine, and Jim James contribute to the album.
