Laura Mvula reveals new Maya Angelou-inspired single "Phenomenal Woman"
Laura Mvula has revealed "Phenomenal Woman", the latest preview of upcoming second LP The Dreaming Room.
The song debuted on Annie Mac's 18 April show as her Hottest Record In The World.
"Phenomenal Woman" is inspired by a poem of the same name by Maya Angelou. Speaking about the song, Mvula says: “I wrote this anthem to raise up our women. We are the givers of life, we are the chil-dren bearers, the nurturers, the heroines, we are extraordinary in our ordinariness, we fly, we fight we are 'Phenomenal Woman’."
The Dreaming Room is out 17 June via RCA Victor. Mvula's debut record Sing To The Moon was released in 2013.
