The landlord of legendary Sheffield venue The Leadmill has claimed that it'll remain a music venue following reports that the venue could close next year.

Yesterday (31 March), The Leadmill venue bosses shared a post on socials revealing their landlord is "evicting us and forcing us to close" in one year's time, and encouraged fans and musicians to share their favourite memories of the venue using the #WeCantLoseLeadmill hashtag.

Following an influx of supportive posts from The Cribs, You Me At Six's Josh Franceschi, Kaiser Chiefs, Tim Burgess, Mystery Jets, Billy Bragg, Sleaford Mods, Little Comets, Enter Shikari and many more, BBC reports that the landlord has pledged that the space will continue to be a music venue.

Dominic Madden from Electric Group said, "The management may change but the song stays the same."

The Sheffield venue originally opened in 1980, and has hosted huge names over the years including Pulp, Coldplay, The Stone Roses and many more. A statement on The Leadmill's site reads: "Since 1980 The Leadmill has spent millions of pounds on what was a derelict warehouse, transforming it into one of the U.K’s most respected venues where countless acts from across the globe have performed over the years."
