Lana Del Rey cancels performance at Israel's Meteor Festival
After being unable to schedule performances in both Israel and Palestine during her visit, Lana Del Rey has pulled out of Israel's Meteor Festival.
Lana Del Rey was due to perform at Israel's Meteor Festival alongside international artists A$AP Ferg, Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington, Pusha-T, Mura Masa, Nina Kravitz, Ariel Pink, Little Simz and many more.
After her forthcoming visit was negatively received by pressure groups, Lana Del Rey uploaded a statement via Twitter justifying her performance, stating, "What I can tell you is I believe music is universal and should be used to bring us together."
Now the singer/songwriter has pulled out of the festival completely, and has uploaded another statement to detail the reasoning behind it.
"It's important for me to perform in both Palestine and Israel and treat all my fans equally. Unfortunately it hasn't been possible to line up both visits with such short notice and therefore I'm postponing my appearance at the Meteor Festival until a time where I can schedule visits for both my Israeli and Palestinian fans, as well as hopefully other countries in the region."
