Marnie - aka Helen Marnie of synth outfit Ladytron - has shared superb song "Alphabet Block", the lead single from upcoming LP Strange Words And Weird Wars.
The track is the first taste of Marnie's long-awaited follow up to 2013 debut Crystal World.
"Alphabet Block" is a massive manoeuvre from the Glasgow-based singer/songwriter - the '80s-twanged cut drifts into M83 territory at times, with lush layers of electronica and dreamy shoegaze textures. It's still an unabashed pop track, with rising hooks and a chorus that soars into the stratosphere, but Marnie's take on the synthy, '80s-y formula is a mesmerising one.
Strange Words And Weird Wars is out 25 March.
