Ladytron confirm new album, share first new music since 2011
Ladytron have returned with a PledgeMusic campaign for their first album since 2011 - plus lead single "The Animals".
The Liverpool-based quartet recently stoked speculation about a return after a social media overhaul and a few teasing comments, but now they've unveiled plans for a proper comeback.
The new single is produced by Jim Abbiss - he also helmed their "Destroy Everything You Touch" single and Witching Hour album - and is packaged with a Vince Clarke remix.
"'The Animals' was the first new song we had, and with it we went immediately into the studio with Jim Abbiss," says vocalist Helen Marnie. "He’s the producer who has really understood us the most."
On PledgeMusic, a blurb explains: "The group have chosen [this route] as a way to record a new album with the direct participation of their audience."
Ladytron haven't released an album since 2011's Gravity The Seducer, with the various members embarking upon solo projects and focusing on different areas in the years since. Daniel Hunt has composed for screen and co-produced Lush's comeback EP, Helen Marnie recently released solo album Strange Words and Weird Wars, Reuben Wu is a photographer and editor, and Mira Aroyo works in TV and film.
