Lady Gaga discusses abortion rights at Washington DC show: "I pray that this country will speak up"
During last night's (8 August) Chromatica Ball show at Washington DC's Nationals Park, Lady Gaga spoke about abortion rights, saying she hopes "that this country will speak up and we will not stop until it is right."
Lady Gaga spoke about abortion rights before playing an acoustic piano version of "The Edge of Glory" during Act IV, and dedicated the song "to every woman in America" following the Roe v. Wade reversal in June. Gaga continued, "To every woman who now has to worry about her body if she gets pregnant. I pray that this country will speak up and we will not stop until it is right."
She added, "I don’t mean to be a downer, but there’s some shit that’s more important than show business."

Variety reports that Gaga also spoke about same-sex marriage earlier in the show before playing "Born This Way". She told the crowd, "This might not be the national anthem, but it’s our national anthem! They better not try to mess with gay marriage in this country!"
