Lady Gaga banned from performing inside giant Doritos vending machine at SXSW
It must be pretty arduous thinking of what Lady Gaga can do next. The singer has already worn a dress made of meat and appeared nude in a Marina Abramovic meditation video. Well now she wanted to perform inside a Doritos vending machine, but sadly the city of Austin, Texas wouldn’t allow it.
Gaga is set to perform at music showcase South By South-West next month, having her sights set on the Doritos Stage which appeared at the event two years back. The stage, sponsored by the snack food company, was basically a giant vending machine – with authorities deeming it unsafe for a star like Gaga to perform there this time round.
“Our conclusion was based primarily on public safety concerns,” a statement reads. “We look at the size and capacity of the location covered by the permit being sought and how it fits with the anticipated attendance, based on event capacity and promotion. At the end of the day, it’s a parking lot”.
SXSW 2014 runs in Austin from 7-16 March. Here’s what the aforementioned Doritos Stage looked like back in 2012:
- Fiona Apple unveils cover of Neil Young’s "Heart of Gold"
