LadBaby's Mark Hoyle speaks about going up against The Kunts for Christmas number one
LadBaby's Mark Hoyle has discussed going up against The Kunts' second Boris Johnson protest track for this year's Christmas number one, reiterating that their own "Sausage Rolls For Everyone" will raise money for charity.
Last Friday (17 December) LadBaby returned with their fourth consecutive charity Christmas single "Sausage Rolls For Everyone", which will see all proceeds donated to The Trussell Trust.
The same day, The Kunts added to the Christmas number one race with their second consecutive Boris Johnson protest track, "Boris Johnson Is Still A F*cking C*nt", which already reached the top five in the midweek chart.
With just a few days to go before the UK Christmas number one single is annnounced, the Official Charts spoke to LadBaby's Mark Hoyle, who reiterated the fact that their song is raising money for charity, and The Kunts' outing isn't.
Hoyle said of the Christmas number one race, "I never feel positive about it until it’s over – I just can’t start to believe because the pain of believing and then having it taken away is almost worse. This week we’ll keep going until the last moment and assume it might not happen. You never know with impending restrictions potentially coming into play from the government, and the constant discontent with Boris Johnson – there’s definitely a third song in the running should the guidelines change."
Speaking about The Kunts' 2021 release, he added, "It takes a certain sort of person to download a song with that in the title, but you never know. There’s definitely an element that people aren’t happy with this government, but our song is for charity - I don’t believe theirs is - and ours is trying to raise more money than ever for food banks. It’s something that is even more important given everything that is going on."
