La Roux, Kae Tempest and more to play Christmas At The Windmill livestream fundraiser
London's Windmill Brixton music venue has announced Christmas At The Windmill, a livestream fundraiser featuring performances by La Roux, Kae Tempest and more.
The Windmill in Brixton is currently in Music Venue Trust's red zone along with 29 other grassroots music venues across the UK, meaning it's at risk of imminent closure without financial aid.
After hosting an auction to raise funds and a collaborative performance from Black Country, New Road and black midi (aka black midi, New Road), Windmill Brixton has announced a Christmas livestream gig to continue raising money for the venue.
Christmas At The Windmill will include performances from La Roux, Kae Tempest, Squid, black midi, Tiña, Sweat, Lobby, and a DJ set from PVA.
The Windmill's booker Tim Perry says of the event, "since we found out we were not eligible for the full funding, it’s been truly humbling how artists have come out to support the venue. It really makes us feel that this is a big community and when all this is over, we might just bounce back stronger than before."
