Kurt Cobain's childhood home in Aberdeen, Washington goes up for sale
Reissues are always the main reason for a hike in the property market, right? Well, it seems to be at the moment. First with Eminem’s childhood home going up for sale, and now that of Nirvana’s late frontman, Kurt Cobain.
As SPIN report, Cobain’s mother – Wendy O’Connor – is selling the Aberdeen, Washington property, along with his used mattress.
While assessors have given the house a value of $67,000, its place in rock n roll history means that it’s likely to fetch up to $500,000.
A statement from Kim Cobain, Kurt’s sister, reads: ”We’ve decided to sell the home to create a legacy for Kurt, and yes, there are some mixed feelings since we have all loved the home and it carries so many great memories. But our family has moved on from Washington, and (we) feel it’s time to let go of the home.”
Nirvana’s third and final album, In Utero was recently re-released as part of a 20th anniversary package.
