Kraftwerk gig tickets crash Tate website and phone lines
A surge of traffic caused by tickets to Kraftwerk’s upcoming series of shows at the Tate Modern has caused the gallery’s website to crash.
BBC News reports that the website crashed when booking opened at 7:30 this morning.
The phone lines were also jammed, causing many fans to head to the Tate in person in hope of securing tickets.
The Tate addressed the problems on Twitter:
Later a Tate spokesman released the following statement:
“Tate’s IT and ticketing services teams worked closely together and had procedures in place to ensure that its IT systems and website had the capacity to manage a high volume of demand. Unfortunately we are experiencing problems with our server which is why we are directing people to the phone lines. Tate sells millions of tickets a year through its web systems and for this event there are a minimum of 900 tickets on sale for each night.”
The German electronic pioneers will play eight albums in full at eight special outings in February.
It’s also the group’s first London shows for nine years. Full details here.
