Klangstof tease new EP with second track "Resume"
Amsterdam-based group Klangstof have lifted the lid on new single "Resume", the second from upcoming EP Everest.
Klangstof - firm faves of ours, who played our new music festival at the top of 2017 and then our stage at The Great Escape - are following up their marvellous debut LP Close Eyes To Exit.
The short-player's direction is dubbed "synthesizer heaven" by bandleader/frontman Koen Van De Wardt. "Everest" is an attempt at "A-ha style, '80s pop", apparently, while fellow tune "Resume" follows a more political bent, "Names" looks to the electronic world, and "The Lows Will Keep You High" shows off a soft side.
"I was checking the news on my phone that day [when the travel ban was announced] and all I could feel was hatred, fear and sadness," says Van De Wardt of the song's Trumpian inspiration. "I didn’t want Resume to feel like a protest song though. I mean, we’re Dutch - we have our own problems. What I have always loved about art is that it brings people together that would never have come together in any other situation. You feel connected and that is so important as a human being."
As well as the EP, Klangstof have announced a new London headline show at The Lexington on 21 November.
