Kickstarter campaign launched to finance documentary on Manic Street Preachers' The Holy Bible
A campaign has been launched on Kickstarter to finance a documentary, entitled The Holy Bible: My Testament, to mark the 20th anniversary of Manic Street Preachers' seminal third album.
The film will explore the impact the album has had on its listeners over the last two decades. Produced by Cardiff-based company Barefoot Rascals, in partnership with The Quietus, the film will feature interviews with the band's biographer Simon Price, their publicist Caffy St. Luce, noted academic Rhian E. Jones, and an assortment of fans.
Considered lyricist Richey Edwards' crowning glory as a writer, The Holy Bible will also be receiving a deluxe four-disc reissue on 8 December, which includes a disc of live recordings from Edwards' last shows with the band. On the same date, the band begin a series of sold-out shows, during which they will play the album in full for the first time since its original release.
At time of press, the film is just under £1800 short of its £4000 target, with a financing deadline of 4 December. You can view the campaign or contribute to the project here.
