Kevin Shields reveals first of two new My Bloody Valentine albums will be "warm and melodic"
My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields has confirmed that the group are planning to release two new albums, and has described the first one as "warm and melodic"
After the group signed to Domino earlier this week and finally released their entire catalogue digitally for the first time ever, My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields has confirmed that there's two new albums in the works via a new interview with The New York Times.
Shields first revealed that there were two new albums in the works back in 2018, and revealed to The New York Times yesterday (31 March) that the band are waiting to see if they can get together in person at Shields' home studio before they start recording them. If the COVID-19 pandemic restricts that option, the band will look at remote alternatives.
He also shared some brief descriptions of their two albums, revealing the first will be "warm and melodic", and said the second will be more experimental.
While Shields didn't provide a timeline for the album releases, MBV vocalist and guitarist Bilinda Butcher did tell The New York Times, "I think once I can get over to Ireland it will get done very quickly as my vocals are often the last thing to be recorded. They’ll probably be finished by the end of the year."
