Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene announces album as K.D.A.P. with lead single "The Slinfold Loop"
Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew has announced new album Influences under his electronic alter ego K.D.A.P., alongside unveiling the opening song "The Slinfold Loop".
K.D.A.P., which stands for Kevin Drew A Picture, is the electronic project of Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew, and today he's released "The Slinfold Loop", a first taster of his upcoming Influences album due out next month.
Drew says of the new outing, "We live in a society that’s based on selling yourself back to yourself. It’s created an underground battle to constantly be searching for "true identity". We wanted to create a video presentation that promotes exploring over searching and brings the mystical slide-show of never ending opinion to the forefront of this battle. We used available footage from the World Wide Web from other artists and cut together a blender of images to tell a love story about continuing to move forward amongst the never ending information of how one is supposed to live."
Influences is an instrumental album that will follow 2014's Darlings, and was crafted in the UK during the pandemic using the smartphone DIY production app Endlesss. The album, described as an "outdoor record", came together after Drew's walks through the woods of Slinford and the canals of Islington.
Drew adds of the album, "I didn't have anything to say on this record, but I had so much to feel."
