Kendrick Lamar to release new album in September
Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar is said to be prepping his next album release and follow-up to breakthrough LP, 2012′s Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.
The news emerges in a recent Billboard feature on both Lamar and labelmate Schoolboy Q, in which Top Dawg Entertainment’s Anthony Tiffith reveals that the record will drop in September.
Not only this, but it also looks like a debut album from Lamar’s Black Hippy supergroup (with Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock) will also surface this year.
Meanwhile, Lamar has spoken about Macklemore’s apology at beating Good Kid, M.A.A.D City at the Grammys. “Macklemore is a genuine dude. However it panned out, I wish him much success,” the rapper told Billboard.
“He touched people’s souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole Grammy moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot.”
