Katy J Pearson releases new single "Something Real"
Katy J Pearson has shared "Something Real" as the fifth single to be lifted from her debut album Return.
"Something Real" follows on from July's "Fix Me Up", and will appear on Return alongside earlier singles "Take Back The Radio", "Hey You" and "Tonight".
The new track is accompanied by a video directed by Jamie Thraves.
Katy J Pearson has also released a field recording version of the track that will appear on a bonus CD/download. She says of the field recordings, "Over lockdown I was trying to figure out something I could do music-wise that would be fun and interesting. My friend Joe Jones who is a recording engineer has an amazing tape recording machine called a Nagra, which we used to record one of the songs on Return, called "Waiting For The Day". The best thing about the Nagra is that it’s portable, meaning we could record anywhere we liked. So I got in touch with Joe and chose some beautiful, rural locations around Bristol (Goat Gully, Leigh Woods, and my favourite pub The Old England) to record songs from the album as well as a few new songs. It was such a fun couple of days. My friends Marie and Ben documented the experience on video too."
Return's 10 tracks were recorded with producer Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, M. Ward, Perfume Genius, Gruff Rhys).
