Kanye West's company DONDA strikes partnership with Jay Z's Roc Nation
Back in 2011, Kanye West launched an enigmatic company called DONDA, named after his late mother. The company, West said, aimed to “create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need”. The rapper listed music, fashion, marketing and even architecture as within the company’s remit. However, it’s stalled a little in recent times, only being used as Kanye’s outlet to design album covers and t-shirts. This may all change, however, as DONDA enters into a deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation.
A statement on Hov’s Life + Times website confirms the partnership, stating that Roc Nation will “manage all DONDA Music” and “focus on Mr. West’s international recording brand and worldwide touring ventures”. The deal looks to add some stability to the company, after reports of investors being disinterested in the project.
