Coinye West, the Kanye West-inspired digital currency, has now shut down after legal threats from the man who influenced its name.
West’s lawyers had previously demanded the cryptocurrency to stop using the rapper’s trademarked name, as well as suggesting his endorsement. Now it seems like the threats got to the creators.
“Coinye is dead,” a message on the website reads. “You win, Kanye.”
“With each day that passes, reputation is irreparably harmed by the continued use of the Coinye West marks,” West’s attorney had previously said of the matter.
RIP Coinye West.
