Kanye West pays tribute to late mother with new song "Donda"

Yesterday (12 July) would've been Donda West's 71st birthday. To pay tribute to his late mother - who died in 2007 from complications caused by cosmetic surgery - Kanye West decided to release new song "Donda".

The new release opens with a recording of Donda reciting the lyrics to KRS-One's "Sound Of Da Police", and sees Kanye West rap about ending racism, "I’m doin this one for y’all / So we can end racism once and for all."

"Donda" is the second single from Kanye West over the past month, following on from "Wash Us In The Blood" featuring Travis Scott.

"Wash Us In The Blood" will feature on ye's forthcoming album God's Country, but it's yet to be confirmed if "Donda" will also appear on the LP.

Earlier this month, Kanye West also appeared on Ty Dolla $ign's "Ego Death" single alongside FKA Twigs, Skrillex and serpentwithfeet.
