Kamasi Washington shares cover of Metallica's "My Friend of Misery"
The latest preview of The Metallica Blacklist tribute album has been unveiled today (31 August), which sees Kamasi Washington turn Metallica's "My Friend of Misery" into a jazz track.
Following last week's covers of "Enter Sandman" by Rina Sawayama and IDLES version of "The God That Failed", Kamasi Washington has flipped "My Friend of Misery" into a cinematic jazz song for the 53-track tribute album The Metallica Blacklist.
The Metallica Blacklist will be released alongside Metallica's 30th anniversary edition of The Black Album, and will include covers by Moses Sumney, Flatbush Zombies, Mac DeMarco, PUP, BackRoad Gee and many more that are yet to be released, as well as covers by Chris Stapleton, Phoebe Bridgers, Weezer, Diet Cig, St. Vincent, Miley Cyrus and more that have already been shared.
Washington has decided to split profits from the release between Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and The World Stage in Leimert Park.
