Before Channel Orange, the Grammys or even Odd Future, Frank Ocean was known better in the industry for penning lyrics for John Legend, Brandy and even Beyoncé. But a more recent tune he co-wrote with OFWGKTA counterpart Tyler the Creator was supposedly rejected by Justin Bieber for his recent album Believe.
Ocean has reportedly worked with Bieber on tracks in the past, while Bieber and Tyler have both spoken of their mutual admiration, but it seems like the teen idol’s management and label weren’t too keen on this number.
Speaking to Billboard recently, Tyler revealed the news, while adding that his offer is still on the table for a team up:
“I want to take Justin Bieber for a month and just lock him up in a cage where we sit and make music. He’s one of the most successful people in the world, but his music could be so much tighter.”
Tyler will, however, still star on the new Miley Cyrus album…
