Julien Baker, The National's Matt Berninger and Stephan Altman unite for new collab "All I Want"
"All I Want" is a collaboration between Julien Baker, The National's Matt Berninger and Stephan Altman. The physical 7" will raise money for Planned Parenthood.
The trio performed "All I Want" for the first time on Baker's Boygenius tour in Los Angeles (Stereogum reports), and have today released it digitally and on 7".
"All I Want" was originally made by Berninger and Altman for the soundtrack for a new documentary American Chaos, which focuses on the months leading up to Donald Trump’s election.
Baker was brought on for a second version of the track, which will be part of the benefit single series for Planned Parenthood.
Vol. 2 of the 7" includes "All I Want" with the three musicians, as well as a b-side from writer Hanif Abdurraquib, who reads a poem called “Defiance, Ohio Is The Name Of A Band".
Berninger expands on his involvement with Planned Parenthood, "7-inches for Planned Parenthood is essentially an independently run record label devoted entirely to protecting sexual and reproductive rights. Thanks to the huge community of people who helped launch Volume 1, we are very excited to launch Volume 2.”
