Julian Casablancas hints at second Daft Punk collaboration & new music from The Strokes
Set to release an album with new band The Voidz later this year, The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas hinted at additional future plans in a recent interview.
Speaking to Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Casablancas revealed that there’s a second collaboration he worked on for Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories that, unlike “Instant Crush”, didn’t make the final cut. “Maybe I’ll get those guys—we can do that one day soon, finish it,” he said of the unreleased track.
Casablancas also went on to say that he’s optimistic about the Strokes’ future. “We’re trying to carry on as friends, taking it easy, recording a couple of songs, and do a couple of shows,” he’s quoted as saying ahead of the band’s headline set at New York’s Governors Ball.
The musician’s new album with The Voidz, whilst not yet given a firm due date, is said to be dropping in September.
