Julia Jacklin releases new single "I Was Neon"
Julia Jacklin has unveiled new single "I Was Neon" as the second preview of her upcoming third album PRE PLEASURE.
After announcing PRE PLEASURE with the lead single "Lydia Wears A Cross" last month, Jacklin has delivered a second taster of the record with "I Was Neon", which is accompanied by a self-directed video.
Jacklin says of the new outing, "I first wrote "I Was Neon" for a band called rattlesnack, a short-lived much loved 2019 side project that I played drums in. I rewrote it for my album in Montreal, during a time when I was desperately longing for a version of myself that I feared was gone forever. I was thinking of this song when I made the album cover, this song is the album cover really/"
PRE PLEASURE will follow Jacklin's 2019 album Crushing. It was recorded in Montreal with co-producer Marcus Paquin (The Weather Station, The National) and her band which is made up of bassist Ben Whiteley, guitarist Will Kidman, drummer Laurie Torres and saxophonist Adam Kinner. The album also features string arrangements by Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire), which was recorded by a full orchestra in Prague.
