Jordan Rakei reworks Donald Byrd’s "Wind Parade" for Blue Note compilation
Jordan Rakei has shared his rework of Donald Byrd's "Wind Parade" as the seventh single to be lifted from the Blue Note Re:imagined compilation.
Rakei's soulful and funky take on Byrd's 1975 track "Wind Parade" follows on from previous Blue Note Re:imagined tracks including Yazmin Lacey's version of Dodo Greene's "I'll Never Stop Loving You", Steam Down and Afronaut Zu's take on Wayne Shorter's "Etcetera", Poppy Ajudha's rework of Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man", Skinny Pelembe’s rendition of Andrew Hill's composition "Illusion", Jorja Smith’s take on St Germain’s "Rose Rouge", and Ezra Collective’s cover of Wayne Shorter’s "Footprints".
"Wind Parade" is Rakei's first outing since he teamed up with Common on a new version of "Signs" back in February.
As well as featuring Jordan Rakei, Blue Note Re:imagined will also include recordings from Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Mr Jukes, Emma-Jean Thackray, Fieh, Ishmael Ensemble, Blue Lab Beats, Melt Yourself Down and Alfa Mist.
