
Joni Mitchell gives surprise performance at Newport Folk Festival 2022
Joni Mitchell made a surprise appearance at Newport Folk Festival yesterday (24 July) alongside Brandi Carlile, marking her first full live set in over two decades.
Yesterday (24 July) Newport Folk Festival attendees were treated to a surprise appearance from Joni Mitchell. Mitchell appeared alongside Brandi Carlile, and it marked her first full performance since 2000. She previously performed a couple of songs at the MusiCares Person Of The Year gala in April, which marked her first public performance since 2013.
During Mitchell's first appearance at Newport Folk Festival since 1969, she performed classics including "A Case of You", "Both Sides Now" and "Big Yellow Taxi" with Carlile, and Mitchell also played the guitar solo from "Just Like This Train". Marcus Mumford also contributed to the performance of "A Case of You".
