Johnny Flynn unveils lead single from The Score film soundtrack "Through The Misty With You"
Johnny Flynn has released "Through The Misty With You", the lead outing from his soundtrack for the upcoming film The Score, which he also stars in alongside Will Poulter.
The first trailer for The Score featuring Will Poulter, Flynn, Naomi Ackie and more was released in November last year, and now Flynn has delivered the first taster of the film's soundtrack with a new song titled "Through The Misty With You".
"Making the music for The Score has been a weird and wonderful journey," Flynn explains. "I was handed the script with the songs already in it by Ben Pullen (producer) and Malachi (Smyth, Director). It was a process of working with Ben and Malachi to see how the music would integrate in the film…My vision was to re-record the songs with a totally different feel and build them around the character’s emotional worlds and Malachi was so collaborative in bringing it all together. Working with Naomi and Will was so fun because their energy fed into the reinterpretation of the songs."
He adds, "It’s interesting to me to hear the songs in such a new context and feels fitting that the songs get to continue their journey - in some cases - 15 or more years since they were written. I always feel like they don’t really belong to me anyway, so I love seeing them serve this story."
The Score will see Flynn and Poulter will play Mike and Troy, two small-time crooks who stop off at a secluded café to wait for a "rendezvous hand-over", which results in Troy (Poulter) falling in love with the waitress Gloria (Ackie).
Flynn's role in The Score will be his first feature film appearance since playing Ian Fleming in Operation Mincemeat last year.
