John Moreland receives standing ovation at End Of The Road
Tulsa troubadour John Moreland brought his heart-soaked strain of Americana to End Of The Road Festival's picturesque Garden Stage this afternoon.
Helping kick off Saturday's proceedings, Moreland cut a lonely figure as he sat with just his guitar and voice for company - although his set wasn't a feast for the eyes, it was a veritable banquet for the soul, with world-weary and life-battered songs striking deep into the core of the crowd and perfectly soundtracking the early afternoon sun.
With the rich tones from Moreland, the beating brightness above, and the idyllic qualities of Larmer Tree Gardens and the Garden stage, many found the spot a prime space to chill - but the crowd were certainly connected from start to end, rising to their feet at the end for a standing ovation. Moreland is an artist of few words and fewer frills, but the 4AD signee will find himself with a lot of new fans after this performance.
