John Lennon's childhood home sold at auction for £480,000
The childhood home formerly belonging to John Lennon has been auctioned off for a whopping £480,000, having only been originally expected to reach between £150,000 and £250,000.
The late Beatle resided at the property, situated on 9 Newcastle Road in Wavertree, Liverpool , until he was five years old. The former owner selling the house issued the following statement on the sale:
“I’ll be sad to leave John Lennon’s first home but I am retired now and would really like a property with a bigger garden. I have made sure original features have been preserved so that they reflect the 1960s period, when the Beatles wowed the whole world with their rock and roll music.”
This follows a strange trend for rockstar property memorabilia in recent weeks, with both Kurt Cobain’s and Eminem’s former houses also going up for sale.
