John Grant to curate four-day festival of Nordic Music
John Grant is curating a four-day festival of Nordic music next year as part of Hull's UK City Of Culture programme.
A huge number of music events have been confirmed, including a homecoming show for The Spiders From Mars, events from The Quietus, new concerts at Middleton Hall, the 2017 PRS for Music Foundation New Music Biennial, and much more.
A press release explains John Grant and the Nordic nations' relevance to the city: "Reflecting Hull's links to northern Europe, acclaimed musician and long-time resident of Reykjavik, John Grant has created a brand new festival for the city. John Grant’s North Atlantic Flux: Sounds From Smoky Bay is a four-day festival at the end of April celebrating contemporary Nordic arts and culture which will take place in venues across the city."
The festival will run 28 April-1 May 2017.
Aarhus, Denmark, which is European Capital of Culture 2017, plus Reykjavik, Rotterdam (The Netherlands), and Freetown (Sierra Leone) are all international partners for the year's activities.
